Early Look: The first battle of the Ironclads | On Location!

We visit Fort Norfolk, the location of the Battle of the Monitor and the Merrimack (aka CSS Virginia). This 200+ year old fort is linked directly to George Washington and has been used heavily over the past 200 years! It is an amazing treasure of American History.

The fact that this fort is small does not detract from all of the history it has seen from 200+ years of usage! And boy was it used!

During this episode we are visiting specifically because it was from these shores that one could have seen the VERY FIRST battle of ironclad battleships….the USS Monitor and the CSS Virginia (aka Merrimack).
