We stayed in The Lewis House…a house that was formerly owned by Martha Washington’s grandfather. Yes…President George Washington’s wife, Martha. While the house has been rebuilt, the chimney and some of the foundation are original.
The Lewis House is large enough for 4-5 people as it has 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms, a kitchen area, and living room. It is located right off the main street and you are essentially in the very heart of Colonial Willaimsburg.
If you ever get the chance to stay at one of these historic homes we HIGHLY recommend it.

Tips
Carriage Rides
Carriage rides are VERY popular so if you want to book one, you will probably have to wait in line. WAIT EARLY!!
We got our tickets at the Lumber House Ticket Office and had to stand in line before they opened for almost an hour…and we still almost missed get a reservation.

Breakfast
If you want to save some money we recommend checking out Aromas. It is a great little breakfast spot in downtown Colonial Williamsburg…and the food is really good!

Dinner
We ended up having dinner at the Williamsburg Inn our first night in town. Very good…but very pricey. Great place to go if you don’t mind spending the money and want something a little fancier.
The Fat Canary was on the schedule for our second evening and it did not disappoint! Make you get a reservation in advance if you are there during the busier seasons like summer or popular weekends. This is still on the pricier side…but right around the corner are more informal dinner spots like the Mellow Mushroom (pizza).

If you ever get the chance to go to Colonial Williamsburg…we would love to hear about your trip!
