Scott and Jenn visit Destrehan Plantation near New Orleans to uncover the largely forgotten 1811 German Coast uprising, the largest slave revolt in U.S. history.
Beginning at the Andry (Woodlawn) Plantation, the revolt grew to as many as 500 participants, but was met by militia force; about 45 were killed in battle, about 45 captured, and tribunals at the Cabildo and on Destrehan’s lawn led to executions and decapitations, with heads displayed along 60 miles of river.
Join them as they uncover the largest slave revolt in American history.
